Signed by the author and dated December 1972 to ffep. Light brown cloth covers with gilt lettering to the spine, with some speckled mottling to boards, rubbing to the spine and boards' outer edges but overall clean with sharp corners. Spotting to first few and last pages and outer edges, a touch of spotting to pages throughout the book and browning to top edge, otherwise clean. Slightly musty smell to the book. Unclipped dust jacket, very good, with a touch of spotting to the spine and rear fold, 1/4" closed edge tear to rear panel and a few marks as seen in photos.

'Born in 1926, General Sir Frank Kitson was commissioned into the army soon after the end of World War II and retired 40 years later in 1985. This book tells his story. In the course of his service he spent many years with armoured formations in Germany, culminating in the command of an armoured division. He also took part in counter-insurgency and peace-keeping activities in Kenya, Malaya, Oman, Cyprus and Northern Ireland and held staff appointments in the Ministry of Defence. He spent the final three years of his service as Commander in Chief of the United Kingdom Land Forces'. - From goodreads.com
