The Riviera by The Dean of Canterbury, 1870 - First Edition
The Riviera - Pen & Pencil Sketches from Cannes to Genoa
A very smart First Edition and only edition until a modern paperback. With Twelve Chromo-Lithographic Illustrations and Numerous Woodcuts from Drawings by the Author. Publisher's original brown cloth covers with bevelled edges, gilt & black decoration and gilt lettering to front board and spine, blind line tooling & blind stamp to rear board and all edges gilt. A very good+ copy with some scuffing to the corners and tips of the spine and a few marks to the boards but still very bright and firm. Internally very clean with some light thumbing to a couple of pages, light foxing to first and last pages, small paper lift to top inner edge of first plate and small mark to bottom of rear endboard caused by the removal of a bookseller or publishers label.
